“Exposure Alternatives For Your Art” 1890 Bryant Studios Workshop Talk by Martha Zlatar
Monday, March 10th, 2014, 7:00pm – 8:30pm, no charge
1890 Bryant Street, Suite 306 (hosted by Jeremy Sutton & Peggy Gyulai)
Please RSVP to jeremy@jeremysutton.com with subject line “Martha Talk RSVP”
Peggy and I both worked with Martha when she was a business coach at the Small Business Development Center. We can say from first hand experience that she was very good at getting us focused in our art businesses and we are delighted that she’ll be sharing some of her thoughts and suggestions with the artists in our building. Though this is not being announced or publicized beyond 1890, you’re welcome to invite and bring artist friends from outside the building if you wish. This talk is about looking at alternatives ways of getting exposure and selling your artwork from mainstream art galleries all the way to non-art venues. Designed specifically for visual artists, this workshop (it’s a talk and a “workshop” – there will be some interactivity and exercises built in to the presentation) will get you thinking beyond the gallery system and give you ideas to design your own exposure strategy. I am sure everyone will find something of value and it will serve as opportunity to share and expand ideas about alternative places to show your art.
In this one and a half hour workshop you will learn:
-
5 habits of highly effective artists
-
Why you want to get exposure? What is your ultimate goal?
-
Types of venues to get your art seen (from museums and commercial galleries to non-art and alternative spaces)
-
Is the gallery system right for you?
-
How your goals, your type of art, and your target market define where you exhibit your work
-
Possible strategies for your art career
Please RSVP if you would like to attend. There is no cost but donations, which go to the speaker to thank them for their time in coming to speak to us, are welcomed.
