Part 2: Dave shares stories of working with Roger Daltrey, Wilko Johnson and The Who. He gives us a tour of his studio and discusses the mechanics and artistry of how he shapes sounds, including sharing how he used an 8 second Tibetan Singing Bowl clip to provide a sound score for a 5 minute clip from Twin Peaks. He takes us into Abbey Road studios, discusses musical trends and his vision for the future.
Dave Eringa is an English record producer, sound and mix engineer who has worked in the music industry for over thirty years. Born 30 July 1971 in Brentwood, Essex, Eringa has produced & mixed international hits for the likes of Manic Street Preachers (with whom he has over a 20 year association spanning 10 albums & includes producing & mixing both their number 1 singles), Wilko Johnson & Roger Daltrey (current #3 album Going Back Home), Idlewild (4 albums & many hit singles), Ash, Kylie Minogue, Tom Jones, Ocean Colour Scene, Suede, Gyroscope (with whom he had a Australian #1 album), BB Brunes (mixed French top 10 album in 2013), 3 Colours Red, Calogero, Beaty Heart, Nine Black Alps, South & many many others.
His long association with the Manic Street Preachers stretches through their entire career starting with tea making duties at the Power Plant Recording Studios in London working for legendary producer Robin Millar. Eringa worked on the Manic Street Preacher’s first single “Motown Junk”, playing keyboards on “Generation Terrorists”, producing & mixing their top ten album “Gold Against The Soul” when he was 21, playing keyboards live with the band 1993–94, producing & mixing two tracks on “Everything Must Go” (“Australia” & “No Surface All Feeling”), producing & mixing half of “This Is My Truth, Tell Me Yours” (including No. 1 single “If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next”), producing & mixing the first No. 1 of the millennium (“Masses Against The Classes”), producing & mixing “Know Your Enemy”, & producing “Send Away The Tigers”. He also has a long association with Idlewild producing & mixing “100 Broken Windows”, “The Remote Part” & “Make Another World”, as well as contributing to “Warnings & Promises” and more recently “Post Electric Blues”.In 2014 he produced the gold selling album by Wilko Johnson & Roger Daltrey “Going Back Home” which led to him producing The Who & working with Roger Daltrey on a solo album.

“This is a five minute scene from Twin Peaks ‘The Return’ from 2018 where I took out their soundtrack & gave myself the challenge of making every sound for the scene from one 8 second mono recording of a Tibetan singing bowl (recorded on my iPhone) – so everything you hear (including the explosions!) is that one recording mucked up in different ways!!”
