[PDF / free] I compare four paint programs by painting a portrait of a painter with each program. This article was published in the National Association of Desktop Publishers Journal at a time when desktop publishing and digital painting wer both relatively new. The softwares reviewed (and artists painted) were Adobe Photoshop 2.5 (Salvador Dali), Aldus SuperPaint 3.5 (Frida Kahlo), MicroFrontier/Timeworks Paint-It! (Andy Warhol) and Fractal Design Painter X2 (Pablo Picasso).
